Perfectly unbalanced...

Zero + Maria Cornejo's spring 2011 collection has done something that I found hard to do. Maria Cornejo put in many designs into this collection that were asymmetric, but they didn't feel as though they were for the sake of being asymmetric. She had some pieces that really stood out to me and they seemed well balanced overall. I can see them being big hits this spring. These designs easily flatter and seem to be clothes that people would really want to wear.

What an æsthetic...

Stærk new collection for spring 2011 has really got me going, but in a new way. Designer Camilla Stærk said she drew influence from an interior designer who designs for this chic french woman. Although the clothes in and of themselves were pretty good, what really had me was the sheer thought of the woman she designed for wearing these clothes. It is really quite amusing many design for numbers in mind, and I feel like although it may not be the first thing that comes to her, but the thought can't be far from her mind.

Less can be more...

Dries Van Noten tends to be a man of solid color apparel and strong colors, but for his spring 2011 collection he chose a more subdued palette that one wouldn't expect from him and he made it work. There are some great looks here that should be in many stores for spring.

Promise from greatness...

Wes Gordon's sprng 2011 debut collection was small yet powerful. His pieces well made and filled with refinement. Working for greats like Oscar De La Renta and Tom Ford, it really shows in his clothes. His collection really wasn't meant to change the world of fashion as we know it, but it really was modern and filled with pieces that are bound to fly off the racks.

Hoping for a chilly spring...

Helmut Lang's spring 2011 collection makes me hope the winter chill sticks around late next year. He put out a great collection of clothes for this upcoming spring, and his coats really caught my eye. They fit his clothes so well and could fit anyone's closet just as easily. So here's hoping.

The things that standout...

Francesco Scognamiglio used his spring 2011 line to celebrate his tenth year in fashion. He had many different pieces and in there were a few that really stood out to me. In his design he seems fearless and sure of what he does, I must say that for some a collection doesn't need to be filled with non-stop greatness.

Spring-time looks...

Roland Mouret has just bought the rights to his name and label back and with this new spring 2011 collection he put out a very diverse collection with plenty of color. He had some great pieces that I can see many wearing this spring. I am sure his client base is as diverse as his collection.

With yet a new twist...

Designer Peter Pilotto has made yet a new twist in his spring 2011 line. He always drapes his fabrics in ways that would seem unflattering, but they do the opposite. His clothes are interesting and he doesn't forget that they are for ladies.  They could easily have gone boring with their clothes, but they keep me interested.

A sport for all...

Designers Alexa Adams and Flora Gill designs worked in great harmony for their spring 2011 collection for their line Ohne Titel. I am starting to realize that i really enjoy design house with two designers because there tends to be well edited pieces and new and fresh designs. Their spring collection was heavy on navy black and white but it worked well. Just proves why their line has been getting so noticed recently.  They could easily have gone boring with their clothes, but they keep me interested.

A subdued spring element...

Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez worked a little magic into their collectiong for spring. They worked with a more neutral and subdued pallette and yet made it work very well as a spring collection. They could easily have gone boring with their clothes, but they keep me interested.

Loving these looks...

No stranger to color, Chris Benz has put out quite a diverse collection for spring 2010. His use of prints have given us garments no girl should fear, and his reinterpretation of the classic looks have given us pieces that many would want to wear. He played smart and used great dress in smart color choices that walked a fine line between great and bad. Luckily he seems to know what he is doing.

The diamonds in the [rough]...

Alexis Mabille's first ready to wear show was for his spring 2011 collection. He did go a bit overboard with this collection, giving his customers way too much variety and diversity in one collection for any target market to handle. His collection did have a few pieces that I feel would still have great selling power.

Right on trend...

Phillip Lim's 3.1 spring collection had some great dresses that created a very layered look, and it was done very well. These dresses seemed easy to wear and he gave different designs that give a great variety for his target customers.

Precise progress...

Martin Grant's spring 2011 collection was all quality over quantity. His collection consisted of 23 looks, but when the next is as great as the last then who could complain. No fillers needed. Each piece had a bit of what people want to see this spring and what they want to wear to. His colors were well chosen and everything refined, and he gave great diversity in a smaller collection. Overall I would say it was a knockout.

Spend on these trends...

Badgley Mischka always puts out a good mix of clothing on their runways from formal to everyday looks, and this held true in there spring 2011 collection. Usually their formal looks are the ones that catch my eye more, but this year it was the ease in their everyday wear that I liked. It really captures that springtime feeling featuring all the up and coming trends and colors.

Spring ahead...

Vanessa Seward's spring 2011 collection for Azzaro had a sense of youth I hope we see a lot of this spring. We saw a lot of mini dresses for spring from Azzaro, is this something we will be seeing a lot of from more designers? If the result is dresses as wearable and versatile as these I sure do hope so.

Summer is looking good...

With all the new resort collections coming out Jason Wu's 2010 resort collection was filled with many pleasantly surprising details. I couldn't chose one element I was truly pleased by the collection as a whole. He made good print and color choices, I liked his silhouettes and style lines. For such a young designer he is already making such wise decisions. We can only wait to see what he does next.
